Khayelitsha winger has opportunity to play in Sweden

Athenkosi Matukwana’s dream is to play for Orlando Pirates, Bafana Bafana and any international team

Athi, as he is known in football circles, will have a chance to represent Y2K Football Club through the Gareth Ncaca Youth Foundation, in an exchange programme in Sweden where he will play at a high-level performance tournament in June.

But while Athi and his family are excited about this opportunity, they worry they will not be able to raise the funds for the trip, accommodation and food.

For the 19-year-old footballer to see his dream fulfilled, he and his family must raise R35 000.

His mother Nomsa said she was over the moon that her child had such an opportunity and they were doing everything they could to raise the money.

“We are not sitting on our laurels hoping something will come out of the blue, we are trying all we can so that he can realise his dream. We would appreciate any support, no amount is too little.”

She said her son loves his sport and they would love to see him succeed.
