Jungula ready for next step in MMA career

After claiming the gold medal in the bantamweight class at the MMA SA national Championships in April, Jungula earned himself a spot on the Team SA squad to compete at the International MMA Federation African Championships in Namibia at the end of May

Jungula is an amateur fighter under the PE Submission Academy.

While a final decision on his attendance at the championships is yet to be made, Jungula is not resting on his laurels as he goes back to the drawing board to identify areas that he feels needs brushing up.

“This is a huge honour, I am so grateful for this opportunity that has been provided to me through the grace of God.

“I must also make special mention to my friends, family and my team who have continued to be in my corner and offer their unwavering support on this journey,” Jungula said.

Jungula, who is an avid combat sports enthusiast, said his love for MMA in particular started after many hours of watching combat sports events with his grandfather.

“I think my love for it developed because MMA is not like other sports, talent alone won’t take you far, hard work and consistency goes a long way in making you a better fighter.

“Another reason I enjoy the sport is because you as an individual are in control of what happens every time you step into the ring, you cannot blame others for any mistakes or shortcomings you may encounter along...
